When those you're trying to lead know, through experience, they can always: --come to you, --confide in you, and even --challenge you, they will trust you to guide them anywhere.
What they need to see, and what they will test you to see, is whether you react or respond to their approach.
If you react with any kind of fight, flight, freeze, or freak out, they will stay guarded against your guidance.
If you respond, however, with: --calm connection, --patient listening, --follow-up questions for clarity, and --appropriate apologies if warranted, then you'll be amazed at their increased levels of trust and willingness.
That's why those who respond more, and react less, will always increase their influence.
